Adoption
Horses that have been rehabilitated and trained are available for adoption. All horses have been assessed by the veterinarian, vaccinated, dewormed and treated for any relevant ailments. Please fill out our adoption/sponsor form if you are interested or have further inquires. The adoption process includes an application, in person meeting with the horse, a home inspection, to assess if the environment is suitable to house a horse, an adoption contract and an adoption fee (varying by Horse).

Fostering
Fostering a horse means providing a temporary home and caring for a horse until it finds an adopter. This allows an individual to get to care for and develop a relationship with a horse, while allowing us more capacity to rescue and care for the horses we have.

Sponsorship
Sponsorship is a way which an individual can develop a relationship with one of our horses, providing financial or material support in exchange for an ongoing opportunity to spend time with the horse. Reach out via email if you are interested in sponsoring: wildheartsrescuesanctuary@gmail.com
Red
Red is a mid teens, beautiful quarter horse who seems to have likely an extensive riding and training history. She is the definition of a in your pocket horse. She is extremely friendly, loves all of the scratches and any attention you can give her. She got dumped at auction, likely because of a apparent shoulder injury that makes her unable to be ridden by a full-size human. She doesn’t limp with a small child riding her and our vet does think that with time this injury could get better. Currently she would be adopted as a companion only horse or only extremely light riding with a very low weight child. She is always at the fence, looking for attention and scratches as I’m writing this she is staring right at me! She would make an excellent companion horse for a horse that is alone and has so much value from a therapeutic standpoint for her humans. Her adoption fee will be negotiable to the right home given her shoulder injury. Stands nicely for the Ferrier and vet. Fully vaccinated, UTD coggins.
Bud
Bud is our little miracle horse. He was dumped at auction, completely starved and laying in his back right. We then discovered a devastating fracture that likely had been there for months before we got him. We considered euthanizing him when we discovered the fracture and at the time because of his poor body condition and significant starvation the vetrenarian advised that surgery would likely be unsuccesful. This was also due to the fact that the fracture is susected to be quite old and that he bears weight on it. We instead chose to give him time to heal. Six months later he still limps, but there’s been lots of progress! He bears more weight on it progressively and we have seen a phenomenal change that this horse is very happy to be alive. He is extremely sweet. He came to us quite afraid of human touch, but with all of his care and feeding program, he is the first one at the gate in the morning looking for his humans! He likely will never be rideable, but he is a beautiful 17 hands, black beauty. Stands nicely for the Ferrier and vet. Fully vaccinated, UTD coggins.
Beauty
Meet Beauty, and that she is! She is a new addition settling in and oh so loves people! When we walk by the fence she follows along. She loves apples and scratches. She is a 14 y/o standardbred Amish cart horse. She was dumped at the auction because they had too many mouths to feed this winter. We know she was driving, many miles a day. After she settles in and has a nice break we will work on training her to ride. She is looking for a foster or a forever home. Stands nicely for the Ferrier and vet. Fully vaccinated, UTD coggins.
Lucky
Lucky is a, 18 y/o registered Standardbred Gelding at 15.2 hands. He is gentle, in the middle of the pack rank, and trained to ride and drive. He came to us as a discarded, thin amish cart horse. He has gone through our referring program and has gained back weight and muscle. His coat shines now and he is much improved! He has been ridden here under saddle for the last few months and has been doing well. Needs to be finished out but offers no buck or rear and is very steady, not reactive to noise, traffic ir deer. He hardly even flinched on one trail ride while getting stung by a bee! He is very gentle with humans, big and little. He would do great to be someone’s riding companion! He has been tested on the road. Is sound with good legs and feet. Stands nicely for the Ferrier and vet. Fully vaccinated, UTD Coggins. Lucky and Otis came together from the same farm, we suspect they are related and would be happy to go together if possible.
Otis
Otis is a 15 hand five year-old standard bread, gelding, dark bay color. He is broke to drive from his previous life with the Amish but has been riding with us for the last five months. He still needs to be finished out but would likely excel at any type of riding or gaming. He is young and full of spirit, and very tame with humans. He tends to be quite dominant in the pack order, but is very gentle gentle with people. He is ready for a home that is loving and looking for a good riding horse. He is also not reactive, riding here on roads with traffic and surrounding gunshots with minimal reaction. He is an absolute lover boy and would make an excellent companion for riding. Stands nicely for the Ferrier and vet. Fully vaccinated, UTD coggins. Otis and Lucky came together from the same farm, we suspect they are related and would be happy to go together if possible.
Dusty
Dusty (aka Stardust) is a blue roan gelding at 14.2 hands, estimated by the vet to be mid teens. Dusty came to us in very bad health, coughing, emaciated and with very severe untreated cushings disease. He has made leaps and bounds in his health since then, getting a daily medication with beet pulp and vitamins! He is a puppy dog horse, not that that is an official term, but he is in your pocket, sweet as can be, gentle with kids, no reaction to dogs, cats, chickens, anything. We have been seeing more of his personality emerge as he has gotten better, but he still has a long way to go to get back to health. I do believe he was trained to be ridden previously, obviously that would only be a possibility if he keeps making more progress with muscle gain as we treat his cushings. Our vet is very optimistic about his health and we are titrating up his medication. He gets meds in his food once a day which are very easy to feed to him. It costs about 60 cents per day for his medication, quite affordable, but this is something he will need for life. Currently adoptable only as a companion horse due to his condition, but is on his way to improved health! We have high hopes for this sweet sweet boy. Stands nicely for the Ferrier and vet. Fully vaccinated, UTD coggins. Please consider sponsoring him, fostering or adopting!
Mama
Mama (registered named Buddha belly) is a 15.3 hand registered standardbred mare. She is a beautiful chestnut color with a bright mane. She came to us emaciated and has been undergoing our feeding program for the last six months. She has put on weight, has luster to her hair, and is now sound and rideable with a very smooth trot. She loves to run, but was trained to drive. She came from the auction as an overworked Amish cart horse. She was very easy to train and to ride in a saddle. She still needs to be finished out, but has been safe for riding with no bad behaviors and stands nicely for the Ferrier. Fully vaccinated, UTD coggins. She is low ranking in the herd, and very docile with humans as well. She loves attention from humans and seems to enjoy riding with the pack. She’s available for adoption or Foster.
