The Minnesota Ecovillage Project exists to build a community of ethical, sustainable, meaningful living in relationship with our fellow creatures and the natural world.
As a 501c3 charitable organization, we rely on your tax-deductible donations to support the work of education and inspiration and to create spaces for human and animal thriving.
Your donations fund the creation of facilities and programming that support our mission through...
- promotion and demonstration of interdependent regenerative lifestyles through cooperative living
- creative recovery and artistic expression through writing, painting, pottery, music, movement, and much more
- sharing skills and knowledge for human thriving including (but not limited to): agriculture and food, survival/preparedness, mechanics and metalwork, woodcraft, pottery, textiles, construction, interpersonal relationships, communication, astronomy and cosmology, philosophy, human well-being, and ecology.
- sanctuary and rehabilitation for neglected, abandoned, and abused animals
- education in the principles and practices of a nature-based orientation, including both scientific curiosity and nature-based spirituality
our current projects include...
The Village of SOLIS
SOLIS is an intergenerational ecovillage where residents work together to care for one another, our fellow animals, and the land we share. As an education and demonstration site, we are a place where friends and visitors can experience alternative lifestyles for sustainable living. (The non-profit organization supports the educational/outreach aspects of the village, while the residential aspects are owned and managed by a cooperative LLC.)
Wild Hearts Animal Rescue
Wild Hearts provides rescue, sanctuary, and advocacy for abandoned and abused horses, and fosters healing relationships between humans, animals, and the land. We buy horses at local farm auctions who would otherwise be sold for slaughter, and rehabilitate them with medical care, a healthy diet, training, and plenty of rest. Some are rehomed through foster farms or adoption, while others stay and become trail riding horses or therapeutic friends.
Festivals and Events
As part of our educational and inspirational work, we plan and host events for people to connect with each other and the world of nature around us. At these intimate gatherings we share food, music, dance, mindfulness, and art, bringing people together from both the local community and the Twin Cities to celebrate the seasons and share the in the wonder of the world together.
