Wild Hearts provides rescue, sanctuary, and advocacy for abandoned and abused horses, and fosters healing relationships between humans, animals, and the land.
Every year tens of thousands of unwanted horses are sold and shipped internationally for slaughter, suffering inhumane transportation and death simply because they are no longer useful to their owners. It is our mission to rescue these magnificent creatures from this pipeline and provide care for them here at the Minnesota Ecovillage Project.
We buy these horses at local farm auctions who would otherwise be sold for slaughter, and rehabilitate them with medical care, a healthy diet, training, and plenty of rest. Some are re-homed through foster farms or adoption, while others stay and become trail riding horses or therapeutic friends.
